Other parties contact PPP for seat adjustment
MANSEHRA: Political activities started ahead of second phase of local elections, as ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and other opposition parties established contacts with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for the adjustment of seats in the Hazara division. .
“The Muslim League of Pakistan-Nawaz, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and even Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are in contact with us for the adjustment of the seats in the eight districts of the Hazara division”, Malik Abdul Waheed , divisional chairman of the PPP in Hazara, told reporters here on Sunday.
Abdul Waheed, who is one of three members of the PPP ticketing committee for local government elections in Hazara division, said political parties have contacted the party’s provincial secretary general and members of the selection committee, Shujah Salam Khan, and him for seat adjustments. and they would do it after fixing all the terms.
“We would only award tickets to election candidates for the posts of Nazim tehsil division presidents,” he added.
The PPP leader said his party would award tickets to the offices of tehsil presidents in Mansehra, Haripur, Abbottabad, Torghar, Kolai-Palas, Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan districts.
“We do not want to create divisions between workers and activists who give tickets to a handful of them for villages and neighborhood councils,” said Abdul Waheed.
He added that in the current situation, neither party could win the maximum number of tehsil offices in the division and that it would be better for them to opt for seat adjustments.
Waheed said the nominating committee will start handing out tickets to wannabes from next week.
“We would first award tickets to aspiring tehsils from Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas and Torghar and the selection committee would travel to those districts and finalize the process there,” he said.
