Chief Electoral Officer reviews security and counting arrangements for the nine segments of the Assembly in Jalandhar

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Dr. S. Karuna Raju, today visited the nine counting centers and vaults to provide an update on the counting and security arrangements made for March 10, 2022 , i.e. the day of the count. Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori, Police Commissioner Naunihal Singh, SSP (Rural) Satinder Singh, the CEO toured all counting centers and vaults located at Government Arts & Sports College, Director’s premises Land Records, & Government Meritorious School, Jalandhar. He inspected the security arrangements including electronic monitoring of the EVM machines at each vault in addition to the deployment of sufficient force in which the DC, CP and SSP briefed the CEO on the three tier security arrangements in all vaults including the layers of Punjab Police, Army Punjab Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CAPF) respectively.

They also explained that to maintain transparency, LED screens were installed outside the vault, on which candidates and political party representatives could view the EVM machines live 24 hours a day. The Chief Electoral Officer also visited these reserved places where he had discussions with the representatives of the political parties who, during the interaction, expressed their complete satisfaction with the security provisions of the EVM Machines. The CEO checked all vaults and counting centers, and reviewed the security arrangements made by the administration here, in addition to providing an update on count readiness at all counting centers. He ordered the officers to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India so that free, fair and transparent elections are carried out. On occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Ojasvi Alankar and returning officers from all nine segments of the assembly were present.
