In the editorial section of this morning’s issue of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is claiming that Scott Walker is finally taking ownership of the problems at the mental health complex: Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker told the Editorial Board Friday that the “buck stops with me,” when it comes to violence and other problems [...] In Sunday morning’s copy of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Editorial Board put up a piece which blurs the line between an editorial and an advertisement. First they are singing the praises of UWM Chancellor Carlos Santiago for his “vision.” The only vision that Santiago has been expressing of late is being at another school far [...] Last week, I told you of a letter from the USDA to the State regarding the abysmal condition of Milwaukee County’s Food Share program. I did note one bright note: On the bright side, the letter did point out that the state appeared to poised to finally have worked its way through the backlog created by [...] Two days ago, the Editorial Board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote an alarmingly irresponsible editorial calling for the dissolution of Milwaukee County. We responded to them that day. To the paper’s credit, they ran a letter to the editor written by Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic who had this to say: The Jan. 27 editorial “Dissolve the county” missed [...] Not being able to avoid the knee jerk reaction that we avoided to the Public Policy Forum’s report on the sustainability of Milwaukee County, the Editorial Board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel issued a screeching screed on how Milwaukee County should be dissolved: As a report being released Wednesday by the nonpartisan Public Policy Forum notes, [...] Milwaukee County Supervisor Gerry Broderick and Representative Christine Sinicki issued a joint press release bearing the good news that the bill in the Assembly that would create a dedicated source of funding for Milwaukee County’s Parks and cultural activities has passed the Ways and Means Committee. This means that the bill has passed an [...] Yesterday, the Editorial Board at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel got it right when they joined us in a call for the dedicated sales tax for the parks system. They also recognize that this is the only reasonable and responsible approach. Today, they get it right again, this time on the sales tax for the transit system: Anyone [...] One of Milwaukee County First’s primary goals is the restoration and repair of our parks and our transit systems., which have been allowed to deteriorate into unsafe and unacceptable levels. We feel that the only realistic and viable option is for the state legislature and Governor Doyle to finally honor the will of the people [...] |
