Coming on the heels of Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele’s proposal to further diminish the scope of the Sheriff’s Office, an audit of the Sheriff’s use of forfeiture money has been released. The visit is a very important gesture to reassure the Sikh’s that the Obama administration isn’t ignoring or dismissing the inexcusable way people have treated them [...] As we reported yesterday, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has apparently been using county property and county personnel to practice partisan politics, a trick he learned from his good friend Scott Walker, no doubt. But by no means does Clarke’s misdeeds start or end there. Clarke’s hand-picked warden for the jail and House of Corrections [...] As part of his 2012 County Budget proposal, Chris Abele included a plan to gouge the Sheriff’s Office’s budget and lay off over hundred deputies.
