This is a press release we sent out this morning, highlighting yet another example of Walker putting his politics before people: MCF: Scott Walker moves to exasperate, accelerate Milwaukee County’s problems When crafting the 2010 Milwaukee County budget, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker was more concerned with his political aspirations to be governor than he was in [...] As predicted, Scott Walker is planning on running his gubernatorial campaign Scott Walker hard at work on the budget on the backs of Milwaukee County citizens. JSOnline is giving a sneak preview of the 2011 recommended budgets which Walker’s departmental heads came up with based on the expectations that Walker gave them to follow. Needless to say, the [...] Yesterday, in the Wisconsin Dells, three Milwaukee County workers, Nick Gnas, Clyde Taylor and Gary Piontek, participated in a “roadeo.” Nick took first place against 58 drivers from around the state, and will be going to Green Bay in September for the championship. Clyde also did well, placing third. Naturally, wanting to showcase something positive about [...] Scott Walker, in another fine example of putting his political aspirations before the common good of Milwaukee County, has started pandemonium among the municipal leaders within the county: “You’d better be prepared not to have the (paramedic funding) from the county,” Oak Creek Mayor Richard Bolender warned fellow mayors and village presidents at a meeting of [...] I’ve spent a great part of yesterday and tonight poring over the report from the Public Policy Forum. It was a very interesting read, and even I learned some things about Milwaukee County that I was not aware of. That said, pretty much of my very preliminary analysis still stands. I’ve noticed some questionable facts and some errors [...] For the past few years, Scott Walker has been touting the idea of abolishing county government. His solution is to push off his responsibilities onto the state and the municipalities, especially the City of Milwaukee. I argued against them a year ago on my personal blog. Those reasons still hold valid, even in light of the [...] Two days ago, the Editorial Board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote an alarmingly irresponsible editorial calling for the dissolution of Milwaukee County. We responded to them that day. To the paper’s credit, they ran a letter to the editor written by Supervisor Marina Dimitrijevic who had this to say: The Jan. 27 editorial “Dissolve the county” missed [...] Not being able to avoid the knee jerk reaction that we avoided to the Public Policy Forum’s report on the sustainability of Milwaukee County, the Editorial Board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel issued a screeching screed on how Milwaukee County should be dissolved: As a report being released Wednesday by the nonpartisan Public Policy Forum notes, [...] The Public Policy Forum has issued their much awaited report on whether Milwaukee County should be dismantled and if so, what would be the best way to do it. The report (pdf) in itself is 163 pages long, and the time and effort that PPF has put into it deserves more than just one piece [...] Our reaction to Scott Walker’s “State of the County” address: On Tuesday, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker was supposed to have given his State of the County Address.
