As mentioned here and other places, Milwaukee County First was at Laborfest at the Summerfest grounds. There was a great crowd of people celebrating the workers that have gone before them, winning them rights such as the 40 hour work week, weekends, and child labor laws.
We also met a lot of great people, had some great conversations and gathered tons of signatures on our petition. There was a lot of support and many people shared their concerns about the direction that the county is headed. They recognize the simple fact that Milwaukee County has fallen way behind in areas like transit, and that unless we catch up soon, things will only get much worse in a hurry.
Also at Laborfest was the All-City People’s Parade and Pageant, which was unfortunately rained out on August 8th. Here are some pictures that I was able to get from the parade/pageant:
