I believe the firewood might be for sale only with rentals of one of the facilities, but I am not sure. I would suggest calling 278-PARK (7275) or emailing them through this link.

Hello
Say would you know the phone number or location as to where I could buy firewood from the County for home heating ?
From what I read the trees that are cut down in our park system are sent to the Correctional Institute in Franklin where its cut into firewood.
Thanks
Michael

Hi Ashlee,

If you wish to help save this program, first call your County Board Supervisor and tell them how important it is. You can also get in touch with the Hunger Task Force, who help pay for this vital service.

Mr. Liebenthal,

I am a student at UWM and I also volunteer at a local food pantry. I see the benefits of FFH everyday. I was wondering if there was a way you could get me more information on this topic. I would like to help save this program, however I honestly do not know where to start.

Thank you,
Ashlee

Corrina,

I am sorry you seem unable or unwilling to follow a simple request. It does go to show your true colors though.

RD-

It is obvious you don't understand the financial difficulties that the citizens of Milwaukee County are facing.

The FFH only uses three guards, and they would be easily abosrbed into regular HOC work, so it is not about union jobs.

And while it is not a core service, it is also of negligible cost as that most, if not all, of the cost is either picked up by the money that the program saves the county, or by the contribution of the Hunger Task Force.

You are advocating for ending a program that aids thousands of people for practically no savings to the taxpayer.

There is no logic behind your vitriol.

Corrina-

As you may have noticed, we welcome all comments here at MCF, whether they agree with us or not.

What we do not welcome is gratuitous and unnecessary verbal abuse.

If you wish to make a point, please feel free to do so, just leave the verbal abuse out of it. If you are unable to do that, your ability to leave comments here may become restricted, and that is not something any of us want to see happen.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Is there ONE budger cut that you socialist boobs can propose or argee with in the ENTIRE county budget? I mean, honest to god, you people are delusional?! Do you leftists think the county budget and system of government is efficient and not bloated? I challenge you to name one, JUST ONE, budget cut or savings measure and it relates to county services. Our do you statists actually believe the only problem with Milwaukee County government is the proposed cuts? I honestly don't know how people as clueless and intellectually immature make it through life without walking into walls. See you next time.

Yes, oh wise RetireDoyle. The fish hatchery must be cut! After all, it costs a whopping $285K to run. Who cares about the residual benefits of its operation. Give all the citizens of Milwaukee County the $.30 per year per person it costs to run it and surely we'd all be better off.

Core services are necessary, but so are programs that benefit the core of the counties constituents.

Signed,

A non-tax loving, private sector citizen of Milwaukee County.

Hello

This article does a nice job of pointing out the Strengths of Milwaukee County First (MCF). Stuff that works is stuff that we can keep. I have been out of work for a week or so. I think that just the whole business of getting up at the same time each day to go and work for the guards is valuable. A days work for a days pay is honest and valuable.
